There are four current jobs that I am looking at for future career opportunities. The first two that I am interested in are in my field of schooling, education. Both teaching jobs are located within the Orange County School District. I found these jobs through the Orange County School District website. This website has an area where potential employees can create an account, search for jobs, and essentially apply. Both jobs are for fourth grade teachers at the same elementary school. The requirements for the job are a Florida teacher's license indicating that I am qualified to teach fourth grade. I have my teaching license which states I can teach all subjects k-6, and english and math grades 7-12. I am qualified to teach these positions, but being hired would be based on my resume, my references, and an interview if offered one. I have currently applied for both positions, have mailed my cover letter and resume, and am waiting for phone calls or emails about the jobs. Both of these jobs are looking for a candidate with the required licensure, an exciting teaching philosophy, and a successful interview. The next two jobs are sided towards my entertainment career. One job is an equity dance position for holiday dancers at The Walt Disney World Resort. The other is for character performers at the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando. Both jobs require attendance at an audition, a resume listing any skills that are related to the jobs, and a professional head shot. The character performer audition also requires that you be within a certain height range. Both of these jobs are looking for a candidate that has a strong technical dance background, animation and performance abilities, and a certain look that is subjective to the employers.
My qualifications for the teaching jobs are that I am a graduate of USM with a degree in Elementary Education, I have applied for and successfully gotten my teaching license, and I have a great love for the profession that I am able to convey in an interview. My qualifications for the entertainment jobs are that I am a trained dancer and have prior performance experience with other companies. My resume and cover letter would express my desire to work for the mentioned companies and how I will benefit and enhance those companies. The resume would include my accomplishments in each field and include references that can attest to these accomplishments. In entertainment positions, the audition is where you show your skill set to the employers.
At this moment I really want to pursue the equity dance position with Walt Disney. I want this position because it is a seasonal position that can go along well with any other job that I may have at the time of hire. I also want this job so I can have an outlet to perform and share my love of performance with an audience and fellow coworkers. My resume and cover letter would share my skill set, my experience in dance, and my desire to enhance a company with my love of performance. My head shot would be a clear representation of what I look like. My audition would hopefully go as smoothly as possible and I would be able to show the employers that I have the skills that they are looking for.
